The body of another man was cremated during the funeral of British politician {{w|Philip Bradbourn}}. Bradbourn, who was the [[Member of the European Parliament]] (MEP) for the {{w|West Midlands (European Parliament constituency)|West Midlands}}, died at the {{w|Good Hope Hospital}} in {{w|Sutton Coldfield}} in December 2014 from bowel cancer. His funeral was held on January 16th, 2015 in {{w|Wolverhampton}}. ▼

However, it was discovered in February that it was in fact the body of a man with a similar name, a Mr. Philip Bradburn which was released to the family and cremated instead of the politician's. Mr. Bradburn had no immediate family and his funeral was organised by social services. Mr Bradburn died at University Hospital Birmingham, at about the same time as Mr Bradbourn, and the bodies of both men were sent to the same mortuary.

The politician's funeral was planned by his long-serving chief of staff, Alastair Little. Little, who was made Bradbourn's next of kin, said "We entrusted Philip's body to the NHS, but we've been let down by them." Speaking on behalf of the Bradbourn family he said they felt a "sense of anger and disbelief." A second funeral was held on 23 February with Bradbourn's body once the error was identified.
